Its OK book. But, disappointed. Expected more. Things that are elementary and don't need any explaining - they get explained in minute details, wasting pages and pages of the book. Like, f.e. - many pages are devoted to how schematics are similar to maps (yes, they are, but devoting pages and pages to that? really? ), or how persistence in studying electronics will eventually lead you to a success. But, when it gets to the real meat of the matter, to the things that need explaining - almost no explanation is given. I wish more room is given to explaining the workings of schematics that are in fact listed in the book, like the twin-t oscillator or the AB audio amplifier, instead of spending pages on what appear to be tangents - philosophy, similitudes, motivational speeches and/or trivialities like pages about what resistors or capacitors are made up from. Also, since the book is for beginners, then why not use the SIMPLEST form of the twin-t oscillator and/or the AB audio amplifier? The simplest form of these would be much easier for us, the poor the beginners, to digest and understand, especially when not much explanation is given to those more complex cases. With all that, still - huge respect and big thank you to the author. As I said before - its "OK" book.
Good read, also bought another of his books. W1GV Stan Gibilisco also has a YouTube site with good discussions on electronics and ham radio. Well worth the cost of the book and time reviewing it.
This book helped me a lot understanding schematics. I am still currently reading it. Explains things very well. I recommend it.
